A workshop on the history, traditions, and wearing of various headwraps by African American women will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at 408 N. Dr. M.L. King St. The program, which will be hosted by the Natchez School of Cooking, will be led by Jarita Frazier-King and a guest speaker from Nigeria.
Although designed for women ages 18 to 25, the event is open to the general public. A donation of $25 is requested.
The class will be a “good mother-daughter activity,” said Frazier-King, adding it will be fun and inspiring, as well as educational. The topic of the 1786 Tignon law of Louisiana will also be discussed. Refreshments will be served. Attendees will receive a free headwrap.
