Local educator and thespian Jamal McCullen will present a portrayal of Hiram Revels making one of his acclaimed speeches. After the Civil War, Revels rose from the Zion Chapel pulpit to become the nation’s first black senator. Rev. Birdon Mitchell will welcome guests, and former Natchez Alderman Tony Fields will provide music. We will learn a bit about the history of Zion Chapel and about Hiram Revels. Refreshments will follow at the 1720 Gallery just across MLK Street.
