“The parade will be held Sunday, February 15, at 2 p.m. along the Natchez Bluff. Each year, families and their pets don Mardi Gras–themed attire and parade the Bluff while competing for costume and float awards. In addition to community members showing off their creativity, HPR volunteers will walk highly adoptable pets that are still seeking permanent homes.
Other highlights of this year’s festivities include nail trimming for pets, deeply discounted microchipping to help reunite lost pets with their families, children’s activities, prizes, a live auction, and pup cups for dogs. Just as important, there will be sweet treats for humans from Della’s Lemonade Stand. Best-dressed cats are welcome to compete remotely through a photo submission rather than attending in person. Attendance is free. A $20 registration/donation is requested for pets participating in the parade, and donations of $30 or more receive a commemorative T-shirt or hat. All proceeds from the Mardi Gras Pet Parade support HPR’s operations.” – The Natchez Democrat
