The Mississippi Songwriters Festival, a statewide celebration of southern songwriters founded in 2010 by Gulf Coast Mississippian George Cumbest and observed every few months in cities across our state, has chosen Natchez as its permanent location for its Winter Festival.
FRIDAY NIGHT JANAURY 30: Brint Anderson, Maggie Brown, Jody James, Clay Parker, Mary Alice Vanderwaters, Shane Gaspard, Mat Willis, Eric Schmidt, and Hannah Belle. More will soon be added – you will not want to miss out! These artists and more will appear at different venues all over Natchez – stay tuned for updates!
Featured Nashville artists performing Saturday night, January 31 at the Natchez Civic Center, will include:
Odie Blackmon, Grammy nominated songwriter whose compositions have sold more than 20 million albums, including songs like “She’ll Leave You With a Smile” by George Strait and “Nothing On But the Radio” by Garry Allen; Jim “Moose” Brown, grammy winner and long-time member of Bob Seger’s Silver Bullet Band, famous for his hit “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere”; Roger Cook, international songwriter and recording artist famous for his ballad, “I’d Like to Teach the World to
Sing”; Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Canadian country music singer-songwriter and Academy of Country Music Top New Female Vocalist winner; and Verlon Thompson, whose 30 year career has resulted in hits for Jimmy Buffet, Alan Jackson, Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis… the list goes on and on.
