Tours

We invite you to experience our history first hand as you explore some of the most well preserved and architecturally stunning antebellum homes in the American South.

History in Natchez is not just something we read about in books. Here, history lives. It lives in our traditions, our heritage and in the structures that line our city streets. We invite you to experience this history first hand as you explore some of the most well preserved and architecturally stunning antebellum homes in the American South.

Natchez has thirteen National Historic Landmarks and over 1,000 structures on the National Register of Historic Places. Over 600 of those listed are either residential or out-buildings of a residence, and a large number of those antebellum homes and buildings can be seen right within our walkable downtown area. A number of historic churches are scattered throughout the city, and you can easily add some extra days to your stay by planning day trips to Frogmore Plantation and Gins,Windsor Ruins, the lower Natchez Trace, or perhaps the Clark Creek Nature Area located in Woodville, MS, just 30 minutes south of Natchez. Tickets for Natchez tours may be purchased at the Natchez Visitor Center for historic homes, horse drawn carriage rides and events taking place in the area. The Natchez Visitor Center is located at 640 South Canal Street at the head of the Mississippi River bridge, and has all your Mississippi travel and Southern travel needs on hand.
