"The Golden Age: Antiques of the Antebellum South"

33rd Annual Natchez Antiques Forum
September 9, 10, 11, 2010

Six nationally prominent authorities in the world of antiques and art will be featured speakers this year. Cocktail Reception and Luncheon, historic photography exhibit, events in private historic mansions, and shopping along Antiques Row will be offered as well.  The proceeds of this annual event support the preservation of two of the most significant historical properties in the State of Mississippi - Longwood and Stanton Hall, both of which are National Landmarks and are listed on the Natinal Register of Historic Places. Proceeds of this years event will be used to complete preservation projects now underway at both museum mansions.  Topics of presentations include American Art, Glass in the Southern Home 1785 - 1860, Baltimore Furniture 1800 - 1830, Early American Metals, Southern Prints, and Natchez Furniture.

Tickets are $275 per person

Copper Magnolia Festival (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)

Local artists and craftsmen show off their talents in this one-day festival on the grounds, which also features hands-on children's activities. This event is educational as well as lot's of FUN!  Flea market vendors are also accepted. Cost for booth space is $40, Admission to the Festival is free.

Vidalia Chamber of Commerce host The Jim Bowie Festival and Louisiana State BBQ Challenge annually in September.  It is held under the trees along the Mississippi River, with great entertainment and many vendors selling their goods.

Little Mr. and Miss. Bowie is chosen annually.  Music and culture play a large part in this yearly festival.

Only one type of reptile has a shell—turtles!  From snapping turtles to sea turtles to box turtles, these unique animals carry their houses around with them all the time.  On Saturday, September 25, 2010, kids are invited out to Historic Jefferson College to learn more about these special reptiles. EXPLORE! classes focus on the discovery of history and natural history through hands-on, educational, fun classes.  6-8 year olds meet from 10:00-11:30 a.m., and 9-12 year olds meet from 2:00-3:30 p.m., but parents and/or grandparents are always welcome to stay and observe. There are a maximum of 8 students per class, and pre-registration and payment is required to hold a spot.  Each class is $10.00. Cancellations must be received 24 hours ahead of class time to receive a refund of registration.
